From the brilliant mind of Lucy Neatby: To wear for your stroll on deck after dinner with the captain: beautiful simple seed stitch scarves from hand-painted yarns.
Two versions are given, one knitted straight, the other on the bias.
Minimal finishing required. Fringes or beads may be added for extra allure.
Size: 6" x 60". Size may be easily adjusted in either dimension.
Yarn:Hand-painted Fingering (pictured) 100g (320m / 350 yds) of any hand-painted colour.
These scarves may also be worked in heavier yarns; use fewer sts and appropriately larger needles.
Techniques: Seed stitch, beaded fringes.
Level: Beginner or Intermediate.
If you would like help putting together a bead packet, take a look at the option in the drop-down menu below. For most of these bead fringe designs, we think it is "safe" to figure on about 300 of a smaller bead (such as the 8/0s) and perhaps 25 leaf beads and the same number of a larger fancy one, plus a good beading thread.
Fun and rewarding and a glorious gift or for yourself.
