This is a most unique design by the fantabulous Sivia Harding. Here is now she describes it:
The Willa Shawl is my first two-color lace piece.
Willa Cather was an American author who achieved recognition for her novels of frontier life on the Great Plains, in works such as O Pioneers!, My Ántonia, and The Song of the Lark.
Willa Cather was one of my favorite authors as a young girl, and as an adult, I keep returning to her books again and again. I dedicate this colorful, exuberant design to her memory.
This very wearable, three-panel, two-color, highly textured shawl is worked top down in three equal panels, which offers a raglan-like fit around the shoulders and a flat-across-the-bottom sillhouette.
No beads this time, but a very unusual stitch which adds marvelously to the whole.
All that is needed is two fingering weight yarns in colors that work well together -- figure on about 250 yards of each.
I am excited about this -- it will look marvelous and be such fun to knit!
